About Us
AS YOU TEACH, YOU LEARN.
Hesder Yeshiva 'Lev Tel Aviv' stands as a unique haven for young men from diverse backgrounds seeking deep immersion in Torah study. Founded in 2008 in the vibrant heart of the city, 'Lev Tel Aviv–Shir Le'Neriya' is named after Neriya Cohen, a young man tragically murdered in a terrorist attack at the Mercaz HaRav yeshiva in Jerusalem.
Lev Tel Aviv is the only Hesder Yeshiva in this bustling city center. Hesder is an Israeli yeshiva program that combines advanced Torah studies with military service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Here, we are more than a yeshiva – we are a convergence point where souls intersect with the Torah, allowing each individual to meet his true self, unfiltered. This is a safe place to ask profound questions: Who am I? What paths do I wish to pursue? What do I truly believe?
Central to our ethos is trust—trust in oneself, in the Torah, and in our collective Jewish faith. We understand every person has a unique journey, and we aim to uphold the sanctity of each individual’s path toward truth and meaning.
Our yeshiva is built around four key programs:
Hesder Yeshiva: This program combines advanced Talmudic study with military service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The Hesder typically lasts five years, and includes study, combat training and active duty. We offer day and evening sessions to accommodate various schedules and commitments.
Mahal Hesder: This program is a unique track intended for non-Israeli Jewish students who want to volunteer and serve in the IDF without making Aliya. Students are required to study for 4 months in our yeshiva. This period of learning is followed by 17 months of army service. Mahal Hesder volunteers serve side by side with Israeli Yeshivot Hesder students, in the same squad. There are two drafts a year for Mahal Hesder, in March and July.
Beit Midrash: Designed for single discharged soldiers, this tuition-based program offers comprehensive Talmud Torah studies. The program aims to expand the students’ Jewish worldview by deepening their faith and strengthening their cultural identity in Israeli society. Tailored specifically for single veterans, this program empowers students to explore Judaism and master independent Torah study.
Kollel Avrechim: For married Avreichim (yeshiva students), we offer a part-time Talmudic and rabbinic program, fully-subsidized with a scholarship and stipend. Our Kollel includes advanced study of Talmudic and rabbinic literature, featuring Shiurim (lessons) and Sedarim (teachings).
New students receive a blank weekly schedule, which they fill with classes, Chavrusa (small group study), and solo learning sessions, based on their preferences. This flexible approach allows them to tailor their study experience to their unique needs.
Our complete trust in the Torah stems from our belief that it encompasses all aspects of life. We cherish our Torah, our country, and ALL our people. That’s why we actively engage with Tel Aviv’s community. We participate in various activities that bridge social groups and foster unity, and we provide open door classes for anyone wishing to learn.
